Stats Buzz: Rotherham United In Numbers

By: Watford FC Staff

After stretching their unbeaten run to five matches with a goalless draw against Huddersfield Town last weekend, Watford will be looking to maintain their positive form heading into another Sky Bet Championship contest against Rotherham United (Saturday November 11, 3pm KO).

As Valérien Ismaël and his charges finalise their preparations for the match at Vicarage Road, here we take a look at all the stats, facts and figures surrounding the second-tier contest.

Previous Meetings

Watford are unbeaten in their last 10 Football League games against Rotherham United (W6 D4) – it’s their longest ongoing unbeaten run against a side currently in the top four tiers.

Both meetings last season in the second-tier ended 1-1. There have never been three successive draws in this fixture in the Football League before. Rotherham scored the opening goal in both matches, after conceding first in five of the six prior league encounters.

This will be the first season since 2004/05 that the Millers are facing the Hornets not as a newly-promoted side.

Recent Form

Watford are unbeaten in their previous five league games (W2 D3), which is their longest such run since their opening five matches of the 2022/23 campaign (W2 D3), while they last enjoyed a longer such run in April 2021 (8 games).

Rotherham are unbeaten in their last two league games (D2), coming back from behind both times to earn a point against Queens Park Rangers and Ipswich Town.

Three of the Golden Boys’ last four league goals have been scored by substitutes in the final 10 minutes of games; Yáser Asprilla v Sheffield Wednesday (82nd minute), Ken Sema v Swansea City (82nd minute) and Mileta Rajović v Millwall (90th minute).

Opposition Stat Attack

Millers striker Jordan Hugill is top for goals scored with three, having had six shots on target – the joint most in the squad alongside Fred Onyedinma. Former Wycombe Wanderers winger Onyedinma has also attempted the most dribbles (34).

Cafú has the most assists to his name (3) while having made the most crosses (47). Meanwhile, Christ Tiéhi has made the most passes in the opposition’s half (182).

Defensively, Dexter Lembikisa has made the most tackles (36) within the Millers’ ranks, with Tyler Blackett topping the list for clearances (47) and blocks (13).
