Hornets Ambassadors: Heurelho Gomes Confirmed

By: Watford FC Staff

Heurelho Gomes is the latest former player to be confirmed as a Hornets Ambassador, on the seven-year anniversary of the goalkeeper signing for the club.

An exceptional servant to the Hornets on and off the field, Gomes was awarded the Player of the Season trophy once, earned two Players' Player prizes, picked up the Individual Performance of the Season award for an exceptional display against West Ham in 2017 and was even named Community Ambassador during his time at the club.

Gomes enjoyed promotion to the Premier League as a Golden Boy in 2015 and was later in goal during Watford's second ever run to the FA Cup final, before calling time on his career and returning to his native Brazil in 2020.

The 40-year-old worked closely with Watford FC's Community Sports & Education Trust while a player, so it was no surprise he quickly took up the club's offer to be a Hornets Ambassador.

Further names, drawn from ex-players who have already accepted the club’s offer, will be revealed over the coming weeks.
