The Hornets confirmed the signing of defender Jamal Lewis in July 2023, on a season-long loan deal from Newcastle United with an option to buy.
Having made his professional debut for Norwich City in 2017, Lewis became a key part of the Canaries’ 2018/19 promotion-winning side and was named in the Championship Team of the Year at the end of the campaign.
He played 28 times in the Premier League the following season and despite Norwich’s relegation, Lewis impressed sufficiently to remain in the top flight, signing for Newcastle for a reported £15 million.
The athletic full-back, who is equally comfortable in offensive positions, made 36 outings for the Magpies in all competitions before his move to Vicarage Road.
He made 38 appearances in all competitons during his loan stint with the Golden Boys.
Lewis’ first appearance on the international stage came in 2018 and since then he has featured regularly for Northern Ireland in World Cup and European Championship qualifying as well as the Nations League.
