A product of the club’s academy, David James built a reputation as a talented young 'keeper during his time at Watford and made his debut for the Hornets aged 20.

His strong physique and impressive athletic abilities allowed him to seamlessly make the transition from youth to senior football having been suddenly promoted to the first-team at the start of the 1990/91 campaign.

After two seasons at Vicarage Road, winning the club’s Player of the Season award in his debut campaign, James left Watford for Liverpool.

He went on to achieve various impressive feats throughout his career, picking up 53 England caps as well as one League Cup and one FA Cup.
