Women: Sheffield United (A) Preview - March 13

The Golden Girls return to action after more than a month away, as they head to the Steel City to face Sheffield United in the Barclays Women’s Championship [wednesday March 13, 7pm KO].

Looking to pick up where they left off in early February, Watford are looking to add a third consecutive victory to their tally in league competition, having won away at Durham and at home to Birmingham City last month.

Ahead of the midweek road trip, here’s everything you need to know…

The Ground

Sheffield United Women share Bramall Lane with their male counterparts. The historic ground holds 31,884 spectators when fully open. On a women’s matchday, all spectators are seated in the John Street Stand.

A full visitors guide is provided on the Sheffield United website, including directions to the ground and car parking.

Tickets

Tickets for Wednesday’s match can be purchased online in advance of the game. Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.

The Match

With Head Coach Damon Lathrope taking up a role in men’s team Interim Head Coach Tom Cleverley’s backroom staff, it is Matt Bevans who will be in the dugout on Wednesday night leading the charges.

When the two sides met earlier in the season, a closely-run game saw Harley Bennett cancel out an early own goal before Isobel Goodwin fired the Blades to victory with two goals in as many second-half minutes, as United left Vicarage Road with the spoils.

Whilst the Golden Girls come into the game off the back of a five-week pause in their season, their recent form is on par with the sides at the top of the table. Meanwhile, the Blades look to pull away from the relegation battle, currently sitting four points ahead of Watford.

A win for the Golden Girls would lift them back above Lewes in the table, edging them closer to safety.
