Women: London City Lionesses (A) Preview - September 3

By: Watford FC Staff

Watford FC Women head to Kent on Sunday (September 3, 1pm KO) for their second Barclays Women’s Championship match-up of the season, taking on London City Lionesses at Princes Park.

The first away trip of the new term comes fresh off the back of an opening-day draw with Durham, who the Golden Girls welcomed to Grosvenor Vale in a tight encounter.

Ahead of kick-off, here’s everything you need to know…

The Ground

London City Lionesses play out of Dartford FC’s Princes Park Stadium (DA1 1RT), a purpose-built ground which opened in November 2006.

If you are travelling to the ground by car, it is situated moments from Junction 2 of the M25. If you are travelling along the A2 from London, you will need to leave at Dartford Heath and head for the A2018. Parking is free and it is suggested you aim to arrive 45 minutes before kick-off to ensure getting a space.

If you are taking public transport, there are plenty of local links, with the nearest station being Dartford. On arrival, exit the station straight ahead towards the Orchard Theatre/Shopping Centre. Do not cross the bridge but take the steps/ramp down to the bus stops, then take the Fastrack B service towards Bluewater/Gravesend and alight at the Princes Park stop. Buses run every 10 minutes during the day, with a slightly longer interval in the evenings.

Upon arrival, entry is through turnstiles at either end of the ground. Once inside you can find a tea and food bar selling a variety of food and drink options, with access to bars upstairs behind the dugouts. Bars are open to all fans before and after the game, with access to the outside balconies.

Tickets

Tickets can be purchased online HERE, priced at £11 for Adults and £7 for Juniors & Seniors.

The Match

Both teams come into Sunday’s match following opening-day draws, with a debut goal for Carly Johns securing a point for Watford against Durham. Meanwhile, Sunday’s hosts were held to a goalless draw by Sunderland in their trip to the north-east.

The last time these sides met the Golden Girls secured a memorable victory at Vicarage Road in March 2022, with Chiara Meola netting the winning goal. The travelling Hornets will be hoping for a repeat result this time around, as they look to strengthen their early points tally.
