It has been a busy period of international action for the Golden Girls with five players involved in matches around the globe.

Lucía León captained the Dominican Republic in a 2-0 defeat to Bermuda as the Caribbean nation began their qualifying campaign for the 2024 Women’s Gold Cup on Friday (September 22). Following a three-day training camp, the wing-back was unable to help overturn the two-goal deficit in Hamilton.

The Golden Girls’ number two will get the chance to avenge the result as the Dominican Republic prepare to face Barbados at the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium (Tuesday September 26, 12midnight KO).

Elsewhere, Laila Harbert helped England’s Under-17s on their way to a 3-0 victory over Germany (September 22), with the 16-year-old scoring after just 12 minutes during the exhibition match.

The midfielder doubled the Young Lionesses’ lead with a long-range strike from the edge of the box. Goalkeeper Rebekah Dowsett, who also earned a call-up, was an unused substitute. At St. George’s Park, the two sides will go head-to-head once again at 12noon today (Monday September 25).

Also involved for England was defender Katie Reid, featuring for the Under-19s in an impressive 5-0 victory over Denmark (Wednesday September 20). The centre-half played just over 60 minutes of the encounter before being replaced with England in full control of the fixture, with former Hornet Araya Dennis having notched a brace.

Reid could potentially be involved on Tuesday (September 26, 11am KO) against Germany in the final match of the Under-19s’ international schedule.

Meanwhile, shot-stopper Olivia Clark represented Wales in matchday one of the Nations League as Iceland beat the Dragons 1-0 in Reykjavík on Friday evening (September 22). The goalkeeper played the entire contest but was unable to maintain a clean sheet following Iceland’s early opener.

Clark could be involved against Denmark on Tuesday (September 26, 7.15pm KO) in another Nations League clash, with the Danes having beaten top seeds Germany last time out. Golden Girls General Manager Helen Ward will be a pundit on BBC Wales’ coverage of the game, with the programme beginning at 7pm.
