Team News: Sheffield Wednesday

By: Kevin Affleck

Ismaíla Sarr and Craig Dawson are under consideration to feature against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday in Vladimir Ivić's first away game of the Championship season.

Sarr, the club record-signing from Rennes last summer, is back in full training after an extended summer break while Dawson has recovered from the illness that kept him out of the league opener against Middlesbrough.

"[Sarr] has worked with us, improved his physical condition and we'll see tomorrow whether he will be with us or not," said Ivić. "[Dawson] is okay. He worked the last two or three days and he'll be available for the game."

Étienne Capoue, Roberto Pereyra, Gerard Deulofeu, Danny Welbeck and Andre Gray are all unavailable, but Troy Deeney, Luis Suarez and Will Hughes are closer to a return.

"We are waiting for Troy to see when he is available and ready to practise with us," said Ivić. "It will depend on his physical condition when we can use him.

"The situation with Suarez is different because he stayed one period out of the squad and now he starts to join us and we take a decision tomorrow on him.

"[Will Hughes] will start to work with us in the middle of October. He is a very good player, an important player for us and I'm waiting for him to be available for our practises. He is one solution for us."

Nathaniel Chalobah is fit and available for selection after being withdrawn at half-time on Tuesday night in a pre-planned move.

"We took the decision before the game to play 45 minutes as he missed a big part of pre-season," said Ivić. "We wanted to improve his physical potential."

Ivić is well aware the group he is working with and fielding now could be different to the one he has at his disposal after October 5, when the international window shuts, and again after October 16 when the period to make domestic transfers ends. "Continued player trading – incoming as well as outgoing – is inevitable," said Chairman & CEO Scott Duxbury this week.

"We are not complete with the squad, not complete with how we want to play," said Ivić. "We have a lot of things to improve and, game by game, we want to improve. We know we are in a moment with a lot of new players and players who joined in the last two weeks of pre-season. They are not in the best physical condition now but we will fix it in the next days, the next weeks, and be at a level where we want to be.

"It's important to have one group who are focused on our job and enjoy being here at Watford. When I say enjoy, I mean give maximum every day, and have their mind here every day and fight for the club."
