Sustainability: Fan Wins Hospitality Tickets In March Prize Draw

By: Watford FC Staff

Hornets supporter Rob Wilson has been awarded two hospitality tickets to the Sky Bet Championship clash with Hull City (Saturday April 20, 3pm KO) after winning the March prize draw run in association with club partner Lowr, the fan sustainability platform.

Rob, 33, won the prize by logging his travel to and from Watford matches using a new sustainability section which has been integrated within the official club app.

The initiative comes with supporter travel accounting for the biggest part of the club’s carbon emissions.

A Season Ticket holder in the Rookery, Rob has been watching Watford since he was nine and will be taking his dad Ian, a supporter for more than six decades, to enjoy the hospitality experience against Hull.

"I wasn’t entering my details for the prize, I just thought it was a good thing that the club and Lowr are doing," Rob told watfordfc.com.

"It’s simple to use the app and it saves your preferred journey. I have one journey that I do every week, and I don’t have to re-enter it.

"It’s fantastic that I won and I can’t wait to go to the game and sit in hospitality.

"You want your club to reflect your own social values and obviously more people are becoming aware of their environmental impact.

"I wanted to do my bit and it will be great to see what Lowr and the club do with the information.

"I think it’s fantastic that the club are doing this."

Rob counts Troy Deeney's famous play-off goal against Leicester City and Gavin Mahon's volley against Portsmouth among his favourite Watford memories.

"Last season we celebrated 100 years at the The Vic," he said. "I went with my dad and he said ‘I’ve been coming for 65 of those years’.

"He took me to my first game in the late 90s and can't wait to come with me to the Hull game."

The competition is open again for April, with this month’s prize a framed shirt signed by the 2023/24 first-team squad.

Fans using the app can collect points to earn tickets for the draw, up to a maximum of four each month.

Ways to earn points include logging travel to and from Watford matches, committing to a sustainable pledge and answering weekly quiz questions correctly.

Other ways are reading an article and answering a question at the end, making a recipe and logging each of your servings and purchasing a planet-friendly product and logging the swap.

The free-to-use platform can be accessed within the official Watford FC app; simply tap on ‘More’ and then ‘Sustainability’. If you don’t yet have the official Watford app, it is available to download on iOS and Android via the links below.
