Following a dramatic 2-0 victory over Birmingham City at Vicarage Road on Saturday (September 16), the Hornets will be hoping to replicate that result against another Midlands-based side, West Bromwich Albion, next time out.

Ahead of the fixture against the Baggies on Wednesday evening (September 20, 7.45pm KO), take a look at all the stats, facts and figures surrounding the eagerly-awaited encounter.

Previous Meetings

Watford are unbeaten in their last five league games against West Brom (W3 D2).

Meanwhile, the away side are winless in their last five league visits to Watford (D2 L3), losing the last three in a row. Their last win at Vicarage Road came back in November 2007 in the Championship.

The Golden Boys’ three successive league wins at Vicarage Road against the Baggies between 2017 and 2023 are as many as in their previous 15 such games (D5 L7).

Recent Form

Watford have only lost two of their last seven league games (W3 D3), scoring at least two goals in five of those matches.

Hornets Head Coach Valérien Ismaël has won two of his previous three Football League meetings with sides managed by Carlos Corberán (L1). However, he did lose the most recent encounter when his West Brom side fell 1-0 to Huddersfield in November 2021.

Four of Watford’s last five league matches at Vicarage Road have seen them keep a clean sheet (W3 D1 L1).

John Swift leads the way for league goals within the Baggies’ squad (3), having also completed the most crosses in their ranks (28). Brandon Thomas-Asante has had the most shots on target (5), while Conor Townsend has had the most efforts off target (4).

Centre-half Cédric Kipré has attempted the most passes (329), with the majority coming in his own half (234). The Ivorian has scored in both of his previous Football League appearances against Watford, netting home and away for Cardiff in the 2022/23 second-tier season.

Defensively, Kipré has made the most clearances (28), while Darnell Furlong has made the most blocks (7) and interceptions (9) at West Brom.
