It’s another important contest at Vicarage Road this Saturday (April 16, 3pm KO), as Watford take on Brentford in the Premier League.

Ahead of the hotly-anticipated encounter, we take a look at some of the stats, facts and figures that surround the upcoming match.

Previous Meetings

Four of the last seven goals scored in this fixture in the Football League have come via a penalty - three for Brentford (Ivan Toney x2, Bryan Mbeumo) and one for Watford (Troy Deeney), with the reverse fixture settled by way of a 90th-minute winning spot-kick in a 2-1 win for the Bees in December.

The Hornets have lost their last two league games against Brentford, as many as they had in their previous 16 (W9 D5).

Brentford are looking to complete their first league double over Watford since 1976/77 in the fourth tier. However, they’re winless in their last seven league visits to Vicarage Road (D2 L5).

Key Players

Emmanuel Dennis and Kiko Femenía are equal on five assists this season, making the top 20 in the league so far. The Nigerian forward is also joint 15th for top-flight goals (9).

Mbeumo has assisted in each of his last three Premier League appearances for Brentford (4 in total).

For the Bees, Toney has been involved in 10 goals in his last eight Premier League appearances (8 goals, 2 assists), with only Spurs duo Harry Kane (15) and Son Heung-Min (13) involved in more goals in 2022 so far.

The Dugouts

This will be the first ever managerial meeting between Watford manager Roy Hodgson and Brentford boss Thomas Frank.

Hodgson has managed 375 games in the top-flight, while Frank has taken charge of 32.

The Watford boss is ranked eighth for the most games managed in the Premier League.

Opposition Stat Attack

Toney has scored in each of his previous two Football League appearances against Watford (2 goals in total) - in his entire career he’s never scored in each of his first three league appearances against a side before.

The striker is Brentford’s top goalscorer with 12, while he leads the way for shots on target (27) and fouls won (66).

Mbeumo tops the ranking for assists at the Bees with seven, and also leads the way for dribbles attempted with 65.
