Stats Buzz: Hull City In Numbers

By: Watford FC Staff

Having seen off Norwich City in dramatic fashion on Tuesday night, Watford will be looking to build on their winning momentum when they travel north to take on Hull City on Saturday (December 2, 3pm KO).

As Valérien Ismaël and his charges finalise their preparations for the Sky Bet Championship match at the MKM Stadium, here we take a look at all the stats, facts and figures surrounding the contest.

Previous Meetings

Since a 2-1 home defeat for Watford against Hull in December 2012, at least one side in the five league matches since has kept a clean sheet (Watford: 3, Hull: 3).

The Hornets have failed to score in any of their last three league games against Hull (D1 L2) - it’s their longest such run against them in the Football League.

The Tigers are looking to record three successive home wins against Watford in the Football League for the first time, since November 1978 under Ken Houghton.

Recent Form

Watford have lost only one of their last eight league games (W4 D3), with that defeat coming away from home against league leaders Leicester (2-0).

After winning just four of their first 12 league games in 2023/24 (D5 L3), Hull have since won four of their last six such games (D1 L1).

Only Leicester (14) and Ipswich (10) have scored more goals in the final 15 minutes of Championship games this season than the Golden Boys (9), with Yáser Asprilla netting a 77th-minute winner against Norwich last time out.

Opposition Stat Attack

Young attacker Jaden Philogene is top for league goals scored this season among Hull’s ranks (6), while he has also contributed the most assists (5), shots on target (17), shots off target (15), attempted dribbles (63) and attempted tackles (28).

Jean Michaël Seri and Scott Twine have also shone for the East Yorkshiremen so far this term, with the former sitting top of the standings for passes in the opposition’s half (507), and the latter leading the way for crosses attempted (61) and fouls won (39).

Defensively, Alfie Jones appears to be the one to watch, with the 26-year-old having attempted the most passes (1,497) and completed the most clearances (75) and blocks (17).
