Reaction: Rajović’s Post-Coventry Thoughts

By: Watford FC Staff

Mileta Rajović spoke to watfordfc.com following Saturday’s thrilling 3-3 draw away at Coventry City, which saw the Danish forward net twice on his first start in yellow and black.

The Hornets gained the lead three times in a pulsating contest at the CBS Arena – which also saw Brazilian starlet Matheus Martins notch his second goal of the season – but in the end a Wesley Hoedt own goal in between Milan van Ewijk and Matty Godden strikes forced them to settle for a share of the spoils.

Read Rajović’s thoughts below…

It was a crazy game. We were in front three times, but somehow ended up only getting one point. I think we probably should have got more, but it is what it is sometimes. I think we played well overall, so I’m confident the points will keep coming.

There’s a little bit of an empty feeling in the dressing room after the game, because we felt we deserved more and we had the chances to win the game. We played to win and the three points is what we wanted, so there’s a small feeling of what might have been.

There are plenty of positives to take from today, though. We hadn’t scored in the league since the opening day, so to score three goals was good. If we keep that up, keep creating chances and keep tight at the back, I’m confident we’ll do really well.

Of course from an individual point of view it’s nice to score and help the team, but I would rather not score and get the three points. It’s nice to come to a new club and get off the mark, but the main thing is always helping the team.

It was nice to score the first goal in front of the Watford fans. I could feel the love they gave me after the goal, so hopefully that will be the first of many. I love being able to give something back to the fans.

I’m a striker, I love to be in the box, I love to score goals – that’s my office. Many of my goals will probably be scored from a similar range to today, but that’s not all I’ve got in my locker. Hopefully I’ll prove that over the course of the season.

I can feel the level is much higher here than where I came from, but I’m just trying to give as much as I can in training and trying to connect with the players who have all been great with me since I got here. It’s been great to come into a good team, but there’s still plenty of hard work to put in.

It’ll be good to keep working during the international break now. A lot of players will be going away with their national teams, but it will be good to gather some energy and then come back ready for the Birmingham game next time out.
