Reaction: Ngakia Speaks After Millwall Draw

By: Watford FC Staff

Jeremy Ngakia spoke to watfordfc.com following the 2-2 draw at home to Millwall, as Mileta Rajović’s late header rescued a well-deserved point and helped extend the Hornets’ unbeaten run to four Sky Bet Championship games.

Full-back Ngakia - making his 50th start for the Golden Boys, and sixth in a row - completed the full 90 minutes at Vicarage Road, in a game that also saw Yáser Asprilla and Lions duo Zian Flemming and Wes Harding get on the scoresheet.

Read Ngakia’s thoughts below…

We scored late on to get the draw, but it still feels like a loss to the team to be honest. I think that shows you how far we’ve come, especially off the back of the tough period we had not too long ago. I’m proud of the boys after our recent run, we just need to look to the next one and make sure we’re ready for it.

There was a chance for me to score, and get the first goal of my career. I was thinking of going on the outside of the defender and hitting it, but I had to make the decision quickly and I just didn’t quite get it right. It will come though, 100 per cent!

I’m really happy with how I’ve been playing of late, and with the start to the season as a whole to be honest. It’s probably been my most consistent spell since I first joined the club, so it’s been a long while. I’ve been praying to get back to this sort of level again, and I finally feel in a good place both physically and mentally, so I just want to make sure I grasp this opportunity with both hands.

Over the summer I put in a lot of hard work, and I had to go and see a lot of specialists and work on a programme behind the scenes that has helped me get to where I am now. It was tough but I stuck with it, and it’s paying off so I just need to keep it up.

I love playing for this manager, so that helps as well. He’s a top, top man, who talks to you about life as well as football. It’s important you have good people around you, and he is definitely one of those, and I really want to put my all in for him and for this team.
