Defender Jeremy Ngakia spoke to watfordfc.com following Saturday’s thrilling 2-0 victory over Birmingham City, which saw late goals from Mileta Rajović and Ryan Andrews secure three important points.

Read Ngakia’s thoughts below…

It was tough today, especially at first. Once the team got into the flow and got confidence in the game, we managed to control it more and get more attacks and shots on goal. We struggled at the start, but once we got into our flow we were brilliant, I thought. We took our chances well. It took a while to get those good chances, but we got the job done and the three points.

The manager [Valérien Ismaël] asked for us to be more aggressive, especially on the counter-press. We get into good positions a lot and sometimes it breaks down, so it’s about getting the ball back and keeping the pressure on. The manager tried to get that into our heads and I think we did that well, especially in the second half.

It was brilliant to see him [Andrews] get his first goal. He is a young player and he’s brilliant. He’s a close friend of mine so I’m really happy for him. Today is a great day for him, and for him to get the second goal is brilliant.

It’s all about Wednesday now against West Bromwich Albion (September 20, 7.45pm KO). We got the win today, so it’s about moving on quickly and getting our plan right for the next game.
