Reaction: Koné & Sierralta Discuss Millwall Draw

By: Watford FC Staff

Ismaël Koné and Francisco Sierralta gave their verdict on Watford’s 2-2 draw with Millwall.

An early goal from Yáser Asprilla handed the Hornets the perfect start, but after a resurgence from the Lions that saw them take the lead after the break, Mileta Rajović’s last-gasp header earned a point at The Vic.

Koné

There are a lot of good things to take from the game today. We have to be honest and say that this is a game we should win, and pretty comfortably as well. Millwall played to their strengths and found goals through their set-pieces, which is their biggest strength. The way I see it is that we needed to take those three points.

I thought the midfield battle was good today. I thought Edo [Kayembe], Jake [Livermore] and I worked well. Millwall are a team that plays mostly long balls and fights for second balls, so I think we found ourselves doing a good job and we were able to win most of those second balls – that’s good going forward.

You want to play as much as you can and get into your rhythm. I feel like I’m getting into my rhythm now, I’m playing more games and I’m playing more minutes. I’m feeling good and hopefully more to come. I’m focusing on working hard and earning the right to play.

We have got confidence now after a tough period. We have built a lot of confidence and we know what it takes. We have spoken a lot about getting back to basics, and it’s something we do well now. It helps us a lot going into games and I’m looking forward to playing Huddersfield Town (November 4, 3pm KO) and playing the same way we played in those previous matches.

Sierralta

It was a tough, tough game but we played well. We need to work more on defending set-pieces but we are so happy with the fight and for staying in the game until the end.

It [the battle] was good and we need to continue every game in the Championship like that. We pushed until the end, we went behind 2-1 but the last five minutes we kept going and we got the important goal. It was an important week – we won two games and drew one – and now we need to stay focused and confident, but we are in a good way.

It [defence] is my natural position, but I’m happy to help my team so if I need to play centre-back or midfield, I’m happy to play always.

We need to prepare [for Huddersfield] in the week. We will need to play good football and fight and win the duels. Every game is tough in the Championship and we need to work hard.
