Reaction: Koné On Bristol City Draw

By: Watford FC Staff

Ismaël Koné spoke to watfordfc.com after Watford's 1-1 draw with Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

Read what the midfielder had to say below...

On the result:

I’m a bit disappointed in terms of the result because I think it was a game we could have took.

I think first half we were on top of them tactically. Defensively and offensively we had the answers to everything they had. We studied them well.

On the whole I think it was a good game, the fighting spirit and intensity were there and everyone was on point. That’s all you can ask for from my team-mates, as long as everyone’s on 100 per cent and ready to commit and fight.

We just need to regroup, clean up and next game we go again

On coming back from illness before QPR victory:

I was sick last game. I didn’t train the whole week. It was unfortunate not to play that game, it was a big game. As we know we need points now, we want to be in the play-offs.

The guys did it, but for me to be back, that’s what I like, just being on the pitch helping my team-mates and improving myself as a player. I think it’s a positive return.

On the away form:

Those away games are not easy, especially in the Championship. We felt pretty confident and our fans were behind us. It’s a very good thing for us.

On Tom Dele-Bashiru scoring a penalty:

Me and Tom trained them [penalties]. Tom takes them very well, whoever is on the pitch can take it, Tom felt like he wanted to take it and I have no problem with that. Next one I think if I want to take it, he has no problem with it. But he scored so I don’t think I can take it off him! Whoever puts the ball in the back of the net, it doesn’t matter.

On the fans:

Thank you guys so much. When you guys shout and celebrate for us and bring us up I swear it’s the best feeling. As a football player you play for those moments, you play for fans, you obviously play for yourself but you play for the club, you want to play for those fans who travelled away in the cold and today you guys were huge.
