Rajović: ‘I Think I Really Suit The League’

The latest Hornet to put pen-to-paper, striker Mileta Rajović is eager to produce stellar performances following his arrival on a five-year deal from Swedish top-flight club Kalmar FF.

A natural goalscorer with the imposing physical presence to match his finishing ability, the 24-year-old climbed the footballing ranks in his native Denmark, notably notching 30 goals in 58 matches for Næstved Boldklub, before moving for a club-record fee to Kalmar - scoring in this season’s UEFA Europa Conference League this summer.

Having made his debut at the weekend (Sunday August 27) against Blackburn Rovers with a cameo appearance off the bench at Vicarage Road, Rajović is highly motivated to find that scoring touch in yellow.

“Of course, I’m really excited to be here, Watford is a really big club,” he began. “It’s been great to be out on the pitch with the guys and meet them all. Everybody here has a great level [of ability] so I’m just looking forward to playing with them more.

“When you look at my stature, I think you’d think that I really suit the league. I have always loved watching the Premier League and the Championship, so I think it’s great for me to be here in England. I like the ball in the box and I’m good as a target as well, so you can put it in the air – I’m strong there too. I’m good with both feet when it comes to finishing as well.

“I’ve learned a lot over these past few days, adapting to a new team and trying to socialise as quick as possible. I’ve learned a lot about myself like how to improve and get better and better, like when I moved to Sweden and Kalmar. Now I want to help the team definitely.”

Focusing on his conversations with Head Coach Valérien Ismaël, the Dane gave an insight into those early discussions, while revealing his footballing role model.

Rajović continued: “I’ve been talking to the Head Coach and we spoke about the style of play, how we want to play and how he sees me on the pitch. I’m now really excited and waiting for my chance to score in as many games as possible.

“For me, I’ve looked up to Zlatan Ibrahimović. I like him as a player, I like the way he plays football and he has been a really big role model for me. I think, without knowing him personally, we both love to score goals and doing everything we can for the team.”

In his message to the Watford faithful, Rajović only has one aim on his mind.

“I think it’s everyone’s dream here to go back to the Premier League,” he added. “I think that will be good for the fans, but personally for me it’s about getting into the team and trying to help the team as much as possible. I want to give the supporters what they love – and score some goals also!”
