Watford FC is delighted to announce that Ryan Andrews has committed his long-term future to the club, putting pen to paper on a new four-and-a-half year deal.

Joining the Hornets back in 2012 as an Under-9, the Watford-born right-back has made 12 appearances in yellow this campaign, scoring his first goal for the club against Birmingham City and going from strength to strength after breaking into the first-team set-up towards the conclusion of last season.

Andrews, 19, has also represented England on the international stage in recent months, featuring for the Men’s Elite Squad - formerly known as the Under-20s - alongside some of the country’s brightest youngsters, playing 90 minutes in a 3-2 victory over Germany earlier this week.

He said: “I’m really happy to have signed this new deal. It’s been a long time coming. I’ve been at the club for such a long time and I’ve worked so hard to get to where I am now, but I’m not finished and there’s a lot more to be done. For me and my family, it’s a very proud moment and I’m hoping to kick on from here.

“It’s a proud moment having been here from such a young age; it makes this feeling even better because you know how hard you have worked along the way. I’m delighted to still be at the club and I’m looking forward to the future.

“This is my first full season with the first team, although I was with the senior squad towards the end of last season. Going into this season, I’ve started a few and come off the bench for some, so it’s been a really good experience.”

Focusing on his recent successes, including playing for the Young Lions, Andrews - son of former Watford player Wayne Andrews - is hoping to maintain his momentum as the Hornets enter a busy festive schedule.

He added: “Playing for England was a very proud moment for me. Not everyone can say that they have represented their country and especially to get that win against Germany, and to be involved, it was a good moment for me.

“As a team, if we keep working the way we are working then the good results will keep coming. Personally, I just want to play as many games as I can this season and contribute with assists and goals.”
