The League Managers Association’s panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Paul Ince, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett, Barry Fry and Rachel Yankey, has determined that the LMA Performance of the Week Award should go to Watford for their 5-2 victory against Everton on Saturday October 23 2021.

The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,500 competitive matches in professional football.

Watford Manager Claudio Ranieri has received a celebratory bottle of champagne, courtesy of Tanners Wines, and an LMA Performance of the Week trophy.

On receiving his award, Ranieri said: "Thank you to the LMA for this award and also thank you to my players for the performance at Everton."

Joshua King's hat-trick earned his side a stunning 5-2 comeback win at Everton as the Hornets claimed their first ever victory at Goodison Park in spectacular fashion.

An early strike from Tom Davies put the Golden Boys immediately on the back foot, but King soon netted his first Watford goal against his former club – following a VAR check – to breed hope of getting something out of the game.

Former Watford man Richarlison popped up with a 63rd-minute header to put Everton back in front, but Juraj Kucka made it 2-2 before King put the Hornets ahead for the first time 10 minutes before the death.

There was still time for King to add a third to his tally and substitute Emmanuel Dennis to open his account for the afternoon ahead of full-time, adding gloss to a scoreline and performance that provided the perfect response to defeat against Liverpool the previous week.

It was only Ranieri's second game at the helm of the Hornets, and the Italian will hope to repeat the result this weekend against Southampton.

A productive week of training has provided plenty of motivation to the squad, as Ranieri looks to win a game at Vicarage Road for the first time as Watford Head Coach.
