Kmita: “I’m Excited To Get Playing Again”

Rosie Kmita became the latest in a host of exciting signings for the Golden Girls earlier this month, as the team looks to mount another title challenge in the 2020/21 FA Women’s National League.

The 26-year-old is keen to make her return to the pitch a successful one after a short spell away from playing.

“I’m excited to get playing again,” said Kmita. “I think it was the right time to have a change but the break really made me realise how much I needed football in my life.

“I’m in a different place with my career now too. I think now things are going well off the pitch for me, I can give a lot more on the pitch too.”

Having spent some time away from the playing environment, Kmita felt it was important to find the right place to make her return and the new addition was welcomed with open arms by the Golden Girls.

“The girls in the team were also a huge part of my decision as well,” said Kmita.

“The minute I walked in I was made to feel welcome and I was looked after. It’s nerve-wracking going into a new team but I feel like they really put their arm around me and made me feel part of the team.”

Kmita previously played professionally in the Women’s Super League with West Ham United as well as having experience in the FA Women’s Championship. In 2019 she progressed her media career, alongside twin sister Mollie, becoming a regular host and contributor for the nation’s largest media outlets.

On her return to playing, she is keen to bring the experiences she has learned throughout her careers both on and off the pitch.

“I think it’s really important to experience things, learn lessons from them, then take it into a new environment and use it in a positive way,” she said.

“I want to be able to help and impact others with the experience that I have. I learned a lot at West Ham for example, so hopefully I can bring the lessons that I learned there with me and help others.”

The playmaker was fortunate enough to have known many of the current crop of Golden Girls, which is something that she feels really helped her to make the decision to join the Hornets.

“When I first mentioned to a few of the girls that I was interested [in joining], straight away they told me that I would love it. They said if you’re looking for confidence and a great environment to thrive in, then Watford is the club to be at,” continued the midfielder.

“From the moment I heard the people I trust say that, it was a no-brainer for me. I knew I’d come straight in and love it, and that’s exactly what’s happened!”

Kmita is keen to continue the great work she has shown in training sessions and earn opportunities on the pitch. The new signing is well aware of the quality already in the squad and what it takes to break into the first-team.

“I need to get my confidence and get back to the player that I feel I can be,” she added. “As a team we have the players to fight for promotion so we’ll definitely be aiming for that. These objectives are why the team trains and works so hard in every session they’re in.”

I want to be able to help and impact others with the experience that I have.
