Goal Of The Month: Hoedt Strike Wins December Prize

Wesley Hoedt's stunning long-range finish against Hull City has been named Goal of the Month for December following voting by fans on the club's WhatsApp channel.

The Dutch centre back scored the winner in our 2-1 victory at the MKM Stadium with a sublime 74th-minute lob on December 2.

Hoedt dispossessed Liam Delap and, after spotting that keeper Ryan Allsop was off his line, audaciously drove the ball over him from around 40 yards.

Giorgi Chakvetadze's first Watford goal during the 4-1 defeat against Bristol City on Boxing Day finished as the runner-up.

The Georgian midfielder drove a smart finish underneath keeper Max O’Leary after latching onto Yáser Asprilla’s through ball.

Ismaël Koné finished third after scoring the final goal in the Hornets' 5-1 victory at Preston North End on December 16.

The Canadian midfielder drove forward on a swift counter-attack and after a neat one-two with Vakoun Bayo, fired home an emphatic finish from just outside the box for his second goal of the season.

Strikes from Edo Kayembe, Bayo and Michelle Agyemang were also in the running for the prize.
