News: Hornets Launch Partnership With Her Game Too

By: Watford FC Staff

Watford FC and our Community, Sports & Education Trust are delighted to announce a partnership with Her Game Too, a voluntary campaign led by a team of dedicated female football fans from several clubs who are passionate about creating a positive change in football and the wider sporting world.

Founded in May 2021, Her Game Too aims to raise awareness and educate on the importance of inclusivity and diversity in sport. The Hornets are proud to be leaders in the drive for inclusion in football and the partnership will perfectly complement the work we’ve been doing with our own Women of Watford FC supporters’ group.

Women of Watford FC was founded in June 2021 by Kate Lewers and now has more than 350 members. It has provided access to regular group ticket bookings for away matches, held focus groups to receive advice on improving our offering for women in the club shop, liaised with the Trust on hosting a Menopause awareness event for women across the town and enabled direct communication with the club on other relevant issues.

The club is delighted that Kate has agreed to be a Her Game Too ambassador for the Hornets, so we can support the campaign’s goal to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of their background, ability or gender across the whole game.

“The work that Her Game Too have been doing and their excellent reputation across the game made agreeing this partnership an easy decision to make,” said Dave Messenger, Watford FC’s EDI Lead.

“The synergies between WoW and Her Game Too are clear for all to see and we’re looking forward to building on the positive work of the last two years.”

“I am thrilled that we are now officially partnered with Watford FC,” said Amy Clement, Director of Her Game Too.

“I have known of the amazing Women of Watford for a while and it’s inspiring to see this sort of female football community within a club. We thoroughly encourage female Watford fans to get involved with WoW and look forward to seeing what we can get up to as a collective.”

“To have a Her Game Too and Watford FC partnership is really exciting,” added Kate Lewers.

“The club has been really supportive of WoW from the get go, and this partnership is only going to enhance the work we’ve already been doing together.

“It’s a real privilege for me to be the Her Game Too ambassador for Watford FC, and I’m really looking forward to working with our amazing WoW members to continue making football a great experience for all guys, gals and non-binary pals!”
