News: Community Visit For Bachmann & Hamer

By: Watford FC Staff

Hornets goalkeepers Daniel Bachmann and Ben Hamer visited the Cafe on the Common in Chorleywood - run by the charity Mission Employable.

The organisation works with young adults with learning disabilities so they can make the most of their individual talents, while providing work experience and assistance to help them find paid work at the end of internships.

Both players spoke to the interns about staying positive in the face of adversity and how they overcame challenges in their early careers.

They answered questions before interns Jake and Harrison showed off their roles in customer service and put the duo through their paces in the cafe.

Cassandra Langham, the Training Manager for Mission Employable, said: “It was a pleasure having such warm and caring visitors with enthusiastic interest in the work we do.”

Harrison added: “Thank you for coming to see us all at Mission Employable.

“I found it really interesting what jobs you did before you became professional football players.

“Ben, I found it interesting that you did a paper round when you were 16.

“Dan, it was especially impressive that you moved from Austria when you were 17, considering you had to learn a new language.”

Grace, another of the interns, thanked the players for signing autographs and posing for pictures.

“It was lovely to talk to Dan and Ben,” she said.

“They were really nice to all of us interns and very patient answering our questions. Thanks for the inspiring quotes you gave, which are going to help us next time if we ever feel down.”
