It was a strange start to life at Vicarage Road for Molla Wague.
Signed on deadline day, the French-born Malian international had just 45 minutes to his name in Watford colours before he was a surprise inclusion in the reverse Boxing Day fixture against this weekend’s opponents Leicester City.
On his full debut for the Hornets, against his former club, the central defender marked an impressive performance with the equalising goal in a come-from-behind 2-1 victory and when questioned on the significance of the goal, he admitted it was a very special moment.
“It was my first start for Watford and I managed to score a goal which helped give the team a win,” he said.
“It was something very nice, especially as we managed to get the three points.”
That win was the Golden Boys' only victory in their last 10 league outings, a run that Wague and his team-mates will be looking to improve upon at the King Power Stadium come 3pm tomorrow afternoon (Saturday January 20).
And Wague believes Watford can take a lot of spirit from the previous victory over Claude Puel’s men and will be entering the clash with the right mentality.
“We need to react from the last few games,” he admitted.
“We need to react and go there knowing our mentality has to be the winning mentality, and to go there and get some points.”
