Centre-back Francisco Sierralta joined the Hornets on a three-year contract from Udinese in September 2020.

The 23-year-old former Chile youth international, who has been capped by his country’s senior team, began his career at Universidad Católica in Santiago, Chile.

Sierralta joined Udinese in August 2017 and was loaned to Parma for two seasons, achieving promotion to Serie A during his first year with the club.

The 6ft 4in defender made his Udinese debut in a 4-0 Coppa Italia win over Bologna last campaign, before finishing the 2019/20 season on loan with Empoli, where he scored once in 11 appearances.

Upon joining the Hornets, Sierralta was made to bide his time before earning his league debut. He did so on Boxing Day 2020 though, in a 1-0 win against Norwich City, and he hasn't looked back since.

In the 24 Championship games Sierralta started during 2020/21, Watford kept 14 clean sheets, conceding only 14 times. His first goal for the club was the opener in a 4-1 win at Rotherham United.

Sierralta finished third in the Player of the Season vote despite only playing half of the promotion-winning campaign, which speaks volumes of the impression he made upon supporters.

Furthermore, the Chilean went on to make five appearances in the top-flight.
