Watford legend Ben Foster rejoined the club in July 2018.

The England international goalkeeper initially came to the Golden Boys on loan from Manchester United in the 2005/06 season, having joined the Red Devils from Stoke City after spells playing in non-league football.

The Hornets were promoted to the Premier League through the play-offs that year, with Foster extending his temporary spell at Vicarage Road into the following campaign.

Foster then won the club's Player of the Season award for 2006/07, even though Watford were relegated; the glovesman's performances in goal winning him many admirers.

He then returned to Manchester United, where he won back-to-back League Cups, before moving to Birmingham City and incredibly winning the trophy in a third consecutive season. Despite the Blues' relegation, Ben Foster won both Player of the Season trophies before departing for local rivals West Bromwich Albion.

Foster made more than 200 appearances for the Baggies and won several more individual accolades, only eventually departing upon the team's relegation from the top flight in 2017/18.

In his first season back at Vicarage Road, Foster kept seven clean sheets as the Hornets recorded their highest-ever points total in the Premier League and an 11th-placed finish. During the 2019/20 season, Foster surpassed 150 appearances for Watford.

The goalkeeper was given the number one shirt in September 2020, following the departure of Heurelho Gomes. He kept 10 clean sheets in 23 Championship appearances, and together with Daniel Bachmann the pair achieved the club's second-most shutouts in a Football League season, racking up 23 between them as the club returned to the Premier League.
