Ladies: Helen Ward Signs
Watford FC is delighted to confirm that striker Helen Ward has agreed a new contract with the club, and has also become captain of the Women’s side.
Ward, a Watford fan, has had an illustrious career in the Women’s game, with spells at Arsenal, Chelsea, and Reading – all in the top flight.
Success has also come on the international stage, where the forward holds the goal scoring record for Wales, with an impressive return of 42 goals in 70 games.
The Hornets beat a number of FA Women’s Championship sides to Ward’s signature, and are delighted that she will lead the side on their new journey, as well as undertaking work in media and marketing at the club, being the face of the Golden Girls in the local community.
“We are absolutely delighted that Helen will be with us next season,” said Head Coach Armand Kavaja.
“She is a leader both on and off the pitch, and has vast experience in the game. To have secured her signature for at least another season shows the positive direction we are heading in.
“The young players here will learn a great deal from Helen, and she will undoubtedly be a great asset for us on the pitch. Along with the calibre of players we have been able to recruit and retain, we are all looking forward to what we hope will be an extremely positive season.”
