OFFICIAL: Walter Mazzarri’s Watford FC Backroom Staff Confirmed

WATFORD FC can confirm the new coaching staff who will be a part of Walter Mazzarri’s backroom team during the forthcoming Premier League season.

Nicolo Frustalupi, Claudio Nitti and Luca Vigiani have been appointed as Mazzarri’s Assistant Coaches.

Frustalupi (pictured second left) has worked with Mazzarri for nearly 15 years at Italian clubs Inter Milan, Napoli, Sampdoria, Reggina, Livorno and Pistoiese, while Nitti (right) is a former team-mate of Mazzarri’s who has coached alongside him since retiring in 2005.

Vigiani (left) played under Mazzarri at Livorno and Reggina, and has since been a prominent part of his former coach’s backroom team at both Inter Milan and Napoli.

Giuseppe Pondrelli has come on board as Fitness Coach, while Fabio Corradini has joined the club as Analyst and Roberto Miggiano will work under Mazzarri as Scout.

Dean Austin, Alberto Giraldez and Antonio Diaz Carlavilla have all left the club’s coaching staff, the Hornets can also confirm.

Official | Heurelho Gomes Handed New Watford FC Contract

GOALKEEPER Heurelho Gomes has agreed terms on an improved contract offer from the Hornets.


The Brazilian, whose deal runs until 2018, has been rewarded for his fine performances in the Watford goal over the past two years.


Gomes picked up the club's Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season awards last term, making 39 appearances in 2015/16.


He also won the Performance of the Season trophy for his two penalty saves during a 1-0 win at West Brom.


In total, the 35-year-old has played 83 times since moving to Vicarage Road in May 2014.
