“We Can’t Feel Sorry For Ourselves”

With six away defeats on the bounce and a difficult looking trip to Premier League champions Chelsea tomorrow (Mon May 15, 8pm), Adrian Mariappa says the Hornets know the importance of being at their very best at Stamford Bridge.

Asked by the press about Watford’s poor recent form on the road after Friday’s defeat at Everton, the defender said: “It’s something we have to look at and we have a tough away game again on Monday, so we’ve got to dust ourselves off.

“We can’t feel sorry for ourselves, we need to put in another performance and try and get some points.”

Chelsea enter the game fresh from sealing the title with victory over West Brom on Friday, and Mariappa dismissed any suggestions Antonio Conte’s men might mentally soften their approach to the fixture having already won the league.

“I can’t see them stepping off, to be honest. We’ll prepare well and we know they’re a very good side, so we won’t be thinking about them stepping off their game,” he said.

“We know we need to be on top form to come away with a result.”

Pressed on the quick turnaround between trips to Merseyside and west London, Mariappa’s response was simple: “We just have to prepare right.

“The turnaround is what it is – you have shorter turnarounds around Christmas time so everyone’s professional enough to recover right and get ready for the next game.”

More than 90 per cent of current ST (Season Ticket) holders renewed their Hornets’ vows for the forthcoming 2017/18 season.

Please be advised that, aside from exceptional circumstances, Season Ticket renewals are now closed.

With adult STs from around £21 per game equivalent, kids’ STs starting at £33, interest-free Direct Debit and even a 75-Mile ST option – allowing holders to pick 13 of 19 league games to attend – the flexibility of options at Vicarage Road continues to be strong.

Around 13,000 Watford fans have renewed – with the Ticket Office team currently engaged in setting up the Direct Debit mandates for around 10 per cent of that number. Confirmation letters will be dispatched in good time before the first June instalment.

While this work takes place, here’s a reminder of the Season Ticket Timeline for the rest of the summer:

- June 1 to June 5: Exclusive Seat Movement Window for ST holders required to relocate, giving first option on free seats

- June 7 to June 9: General Seat Movement Window for ST holders to enquire about relocation options available

These Seat Movement Windows will take place via phone call and in-person only. Given the nature and complexity of some enquiries, it is not possible to offer this service online. There is a one-off £10 admin charge per single or group move (not per seat).

Sales of new Season Tickets to those having registered on the club’s Official Waiting List will, subject to availability, take place mid-late June, with exact timings to be published.

New Season Cards will be issued to renewing fans whose category has changed for any reason (U16 now called 18&Under, Over-65 now called 65&Over, Student to Adult, Full to 75-Mile, etc.) and to new purchasers.

These will be dispatched by early August at the latest. Others should continue to use their existing Season Card.

Further details about each step noted above will be sent directly to email addresses attached to relevant Fan ID numbers, and also published here on the club’s official website watfordfc.com.
