Watford Win Warranted – Mazzarri

Walter Mazzarri was certain Watford were good value for their three points against a stubborn Hull City side yesterday (Sat Oct 29).

The Hornets were the more likely side throughout and could have taken the lead on a number of occasions, but in the end it was a Michael Dawson own-goal which settled affairs late in the game.

Speaking after full-time, Mazzarri said: “I am satisfied with the result, especially how we played in the first 30 minutes, which is exactly how I want my team to play.

“We started very quickly and we hit the bar and post, so we deserved to go ahead once or twice.

“We worked very hard at the beginning and it’s normal when you spend a lot of energy and don’t score that the game gets harder.

“It’s tough to go 90 minutes how we did in the first five minutes, but at the end there was no doubt who deserved the victory.”

A welcome return for Daryl Janmaat – who was introduced from the bench after a recent shoulder injury – provided yet more pleasure for Mazzarri, who is also hoping to see a few more key figures return from the treatment room in due course.

“I am very, very happy to have him [Janmaat] back. He is a player we missed a lot in the last couple of weeks,” said the Hornets’ Head Coach.

“I would’ve liked us to have had the likes of Okaka, Success and Cathcart back with us as well.”
