Injury update ahead of trip to Merseyside as defensive duo return to training

Team News | Everton

Watford have been handed a boost by the return to training of Sebastian Prödl and Younès Kaboul, although Sunday's trip to Everton will come just too soon for the defensive duo.

Both centre-halves have been absent since the early part of the season with hamstring injuries, but Head Coach Marco Silva hopes a return to first-team action won't be too far away for the pair.

Roberto Pereyra, meanwhile, will also miss the trip to Merseyside due to the hamstring problem suffered against Chelsea a fortnight ago, but hopes are high that the Argentine playmaker remains on course to return following the international break.

Kaboul injured his hamstring during the Hornets' win at Southampton in early September

Speaking at today's pre-Everton press conference, Silva said: "Roberto is still out for this match. We expect after the break he will be fit for the next match [against West Ham].

"Sebastian and Younès are in the same situation. They started training in full sessions with the team over the last few days, so now we need to give them more minutes in the training sessions so they can be ready to start in matches after the break."

Nathaniel Chalobah, Isaac Success and Craig Cathcart remain absent for the Hornets, and Silva admitted it's not yet possible to speculate on an estimated return date for the injured trio.

Troy Deeney will serve the first of his three-game suspension
