Marco Silva isn't unduly worried about a 'new manager bounce' ahead of Swansea's visit to Vicarage Road tomorrow.

His compatriot Carlos Carvalhal takes the Swans for the first time at The Vic since agreeing a deal until the end of the season.

Silva, as always, believes the fate of the game rests in the performance of his players and not external factors.

“We've already analysed our opponent tomorrow,” Silva said.

“It's a new coach but it's not the first time. I remember the game against West Ham and it was the first game of [David] Moyes. We did well - it's not the first time and we will keep focused on what we need to do to win the match.”

Swansea are five points from safety in the Premier League's bottom three but Silva is wary of giving any attention to league positions.

“It's important for us every time you can win. It's not more important because it is Swansea than it was against Leicester. For us, we don't change anything. It's important for us to not look at the table to see which position they are.

“I repeat again - only if we are at our best level can we win the match.”

Vicarage Road breathed a collective sigh of relief when referee Chris Kavanagh called time on a welcome and much-needed Boxing Day win over Leicester City.

Four defeats on the spin - and six games without even tasting victory - meant there were nerves aplenty in the stands, but those of a Watford persuasion within the 20,300+ crowd needn't have worried.

The Golden Boys saw out a battling, hard-fought 2-1 win - thanks to a Molla Wagué debut goal, Abdoulaye Doucouré's deflected effort and some trademark heroic 'keeping from Heurelho Gomes - delivering the perfect Christmas gift for the jubilant Hornets' supporters.
