There were hard times for me but the worst times are now over. Now I am here, and I enjoy where I am

Watford signed Roberto Pereyra from Juventus in August 2016.

Originally a season-long loan signing for the Turin outfit in July 2014, Pereyra made a €14m permanent move the following summer and played nearly 70 matches as Juventus secured back-to-back Serie A and Coppa Italia titles in 2014/15 and 2015/16, scoring six goals in total for the club.

He also featured in the 2015 Champions League final, during a 3-1 defeat to Barcelona in Berlin.

Pereyra began his professional career in Argentina with River Plate before earning a €2m move to Italy with Udinese, where he made 104 outings between 2011 and 2014.

Since making his international debut in October 2014, he has represented Argentina 10 times, including two appearances as Gerardo Martino’s men finished runners-up at the 2015 Copa America.

Pereyra scored on his debut for the Hornets against Arsenal in the Premier League, and was enjoying a superb start to his career in England until a serious injury ended season just before Christmas 2016.

His return to his best in 2017/18 was slowed by minor knocks early in the season, but the tenacious midfielder made 32 Premier League appearances and scored five goals as well as playing important roles in wins against Chelsea and Newcastle.
