Player Milestones | Capoue's Century

Étienne Capoue's century of English top-flight appearances was today recognised by the Premier League as part of its Player Milestones initiative.

In partnership with Cadbury, the Premier League is celebrating players every 100 appearances or 50 goals, awarding them with a presentation box containing a special medallion and a plaque commemorating their achievement.

Capoue, who signed for the Hornets in 2015, reached his ton against Stoke City last month, having racked up 24 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur and a further 76 for the Golden Boys.

His highlights for the club include the opener in Watford's memorable 3-1 win over Manchester United last season, and what proved to be a vital winner against Swansea at Vicarage Road.

Congratulations, Étienne!

FPL Review | Gameweek 12

It was a return to winning ways for the Golden Boys in Gameweek 12 as goals from Will Hughes and Richarlison saw Watford run out 2-0 winners against West Ham at Vicarage Road.

Hughes (14 points) was the star man, pouncing on a loose ball to open the scoring with his first shot in the Premier League. The Englishman turned provider in the second half, delivering a through ball to Richarlison (8) who finished past Joe Hart.

Marvin Zeegelaar (8) also impressed on his debut, taking home 2 bonus points while Heurelho Gomes (7) was the saviour once again with excellent saves in either half to help keep a clean sheet.

With 18% ownership and growing, Richarlison (£6.5) is current hot property for FPL managers. The Brazilian has been involved in 7 of Watford’s goals already this season; 3 more than any other Watford player. An away trip to Newcastle also gives a potential armband opportunity with four out of his five goals this season coming away from home.

Christian Kabasele (£4.5) could also see his stock rise after a run of impressive performances at the back, while managers will be hoping that the injury to Kiko Femenia (£4.5) is short-term.

Elsewhere, Eden Hazard (18) and Álvaro Morata (9) ran the show as Chelsea put 4 goals at West Brom. Hazard was also the highest scorer in the week, and the Belgian looks to be returning to the electric form that had made him a Fantasy favourite over the last few seasons.

A brace from Mohamed Salah (16) took him to the top of the league goalscoring charts as Liverpool beat Southampton, while Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi (14) and Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso (14) added to their clean sheets by scoring goals at the other end.

A few low-ownership players also shone over the gameweek as a hat-trick from Callum Wilson (17) helped Bournemouth ease past Huddersfield and Oumar Niasse (10) contributed with a goal and assist in Everton’s 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.

There was another change at the top of the Watford global league as Glyn Francies scored the highest in the top 10 to end the week in the lead. Congratulations if you made the top 10 this week!

Tip of the week

Dig deeper into potential injuries, rotations and resting for your team. A player who has a 75% chance of playing in the game could have been completely ruled out by his manager before the game, so it’s better to check the status of your player properly before rushing into transfers or captain choices you may regret.

Players to Watch

1) Chris Smalling (Manchester United, £5.4) has started the last few games after an injury to Phil Jones. Relatively cheap for a premium defender and has a home game against Brighton at the weekend.

2) Oumar Niasse (Everton, £5.0) has impressed with goals in his last 2 games and at only £5.0, frees up funds to be invested elsewhere.

3) Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal, £11.8) could provide an interesting differential choice. Scored against Tottenham at the weekend and the former FPL favourite could be back among the goals in future gameweeks.
