Watford FC’s Graham Taylor Matchday will now take place on Saturday August 5, 2017, at Vicarage Road Stadium after the pitch renovation schedule required adjusting.
As a result of this, Aston Villa Football Club has very kindly agreed to host the pre-season friendly between the two clubs planned for Saturday July 29 (3pm), and will pay their own tributes to Graham at this matchday.
This keeps the pledge to give Hornets’ fans and people within the Watford community the chance to honour Graham at The Vic – albeit a week later than originally scheduled.
The opposition playing against the Hornets for The Graham Taylor Trophy on August 5 will be confirmed soon, along with details about ticket prices, sale timings and other matchday activities.
Villa Park will therefore play host to Watford fans on July 29, with ticket prices and subsidised travel arrangements to be confirmed in due course.
Watford FC thanks Aston Villa FC for its understanding with regards to the change of arrangements.
A reminder that all profits from Vicarage Road’s Graham Taylor Matchday will be shared equally between The National Memorial Arboretum and Watford FC’s Community Sports & Education Trust – the two charities nominated by Graham’s family.
Aston Villa FC will announce July 29 matchday activity and arrangements in due course at avfc.co.uk.
