Official: Navarro Joins Hornets

Watford FC is delighted to confirm the signing of Spanish defender Marc Navarro for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old full-back, who can also play at centre-back, joins the club from Espanyol on a five-year contract.

Having progressed through the youth system at Barcelona, Navarro moved across the city at 16 to join Espanyol and made his La Liga debut in January 2017, scoring in a 3-1 win over Granada.

The talented defender went on to make 36 appearances, scoring three times in the Spanish top-flight.

“Marc has attracted interest from a host of top European clubs, therefore we are delighted to have secured his services,” said the Hornets' Chairman & CEO Scott Duxbury.

Stat Attack: 2018/19 Fixtures In Numbers

Take a look at Watford's provisional 2018/19 Premier League fixture list by clicking HERE.

The Hornets begin their 2018/19 Premier League campaign at Vicarage Road as they host Brighton & Hove Albion. This is the second successive season that the opening game has been at home.

However the visit of the Seagulls on Saturday August 11 will be only the Hornets' fourth home start to a season in the last 12 campaigns.

Watford have an impressive recent record on the opening day of the season too. They have drawn their first game in each of the last three seasons and are currently unbeaten in the last 11 seasons on the opening day.

Boxing Day sees the Hornets host Chelsea at Vicarage Road in a reverse of the festive fixture at Stamford Bridge in 2015/16 which ended 2-2.

Odion Ighalo was on target as the Hornets took a point from Chelsea on Boxing Day in 2015

Remarkably, this is the 11th time in the last 13 seasons that Watford will be at home on Boxing Day. The Hornets have lost just once in their last seven fixtures on December 26.

West Ham United will visit Vicarage Road on the final day of the campaign, which is a repeat of the close of the 2004/05 season when the Hammers ran out 2-1 winners.

Watford are without a win in their final league game of the season since goals from Chris Iwelumo and Troy Deeney sealed a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough in the 2011/12 campaign.

A clever Chris Iwelumo back-heel helped Watford on their way to their last final-day win against Boro in May 2012

This will be the seventh home fixture on the final day of the season in the last eight campaigns.
