Official: Hornets Seal Deulofeu Deal

The Hornets are delighted to announce the signing of Barcelona winger and Spain international Gerard Deulofeu on a long-term permanent deal.

The 24-year-old has agreed a five-year contract and returns to Watford having spent the second half of 2017/18 on loan at Vicarage Road.

“We are very pleased to welcome Gerard back to Vicarage Road and thank FC Barcelona for their part in concluding this deal,” said Watford Chairman & CEO Scott Duxbury.

“Our ambition to succeed and grow in the Premier League remains as strong as ever.”

An exciting attacker, Deulofeu featured seven times for the Hornets last season, scoring on his home debut as Watford memorably saw off Chelsea 4-1 at The Vic in February.

Having graduated from Barcelona’s renowned La Masia Academy, he made his senior debut for the club at just 17 and went on to play 29 times for the Spanish champions, including 17 outings last term prior to joining Watford.

Deulofeu’s first taste of Premier League football came via two spells with Everton, and he has also previously spent time on loan at Sevilla and AC Milan.

He has four senior international caps for Spain – the most recent of which came in a World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein in September 2017 – and he has also represented his country at Under-21 level.

Internationals: Brazil Show Their Class

Austria fell to a 3-0 defeat against Brazil on Sunday, with the Hornets' Sebastian Prödl playing the full game and picking up a booking in the process.

Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring after 36 minutes, before Neymar and Coutinho added gloss to the result with strikes in the second-half, bringing Austria's seven-game unbeaten run to an end.
