Official | Cleverley Contract Confirmed

Watford FC is delighted to confirm it has exercised an option within the loan agreement with Everton FC to convert Tom Cleverley’s stay into a permanent contract – as at July 1, 2017.

The Hornets are delighted to have concluded this agreement, which sees the England midfielder pen a five-year-deal at Vicarage Road, moving from Goodison Park for an undisclosed fee.

Cleverley, a former Player of the Season winner in a previous loan spell at Watford, has made eight appearances this season to add to his tally of 11 goals in over 30 games during the 2009/10 campaign.

Hornets’ CEO Scott Duxbury said of the deal: “We’re very pleased to secure Tom’s signature. I believe it’s a sign of our ambition to recruit the highest calibre of player for Watford.

“Tom’s affinity with the club and supporters has been very clear from the moment he returned, and we now look forward to seeing him in a Watford shirt for many years to come.”

Look out for reaction from Cleverley here at very shortly.

The Troy Deeney Foundation

Following the launch of his new charitable foundation, Troy Deeney spoke to about what he hopes to achieve and his first project at Garston Manor School.

With a focus on children, Deeney will be aiming to raise funds for various projects in the local area, as outlined in his official mission statement:

We believe that every child deserves the chance to lead a normal life and be given the same opportunities despite their circumstances.

Through fundraising and shining a spotlight on local projects, our goal is to make a difference to the day to day lives of children with learning disabilities and life-limiting illness. We aim to do this by breaking down their barriers to society and equipping them with the means to live fulfilling lives.”

The Hornets' skipper is initially aiming to raise £40,000 to build a multi-purpose sports area at Garston Manor School, north Watford, which will be specifically designed for children with autism and learning difficulties.

In a bid to raise funds, the 28-year-old has set up a JustGiving Page and will also be hosting a charity Golf Day and Gala Dinner at The Grove, Watford. More details of which can be found here
