Offical: Wilmot Joins Swans On Loan

Ben Wilmot has today completed a season-long loan move to Swansea City.
Swansea – who are now in their second season back in the Championship after being relegated from the Premier League – have moved to secure Wilmot’s services for the 2019/20 campaign as they target a return to the top flight.

Wilmot made six appearances for Watford last season before heading out on loan to Udinese in January.

“For me last season was to go out and get some game time, and then come back a better player ready for this season,” he said.

Kevin Affleck talks to Ben Wilmot about his experiences on loan at Udinese.

The England Under-20 international is pleased to have the opportunity continue his development with regular minutes at Swansea.

“I just want to play as a much football as I can,” said Wilmot. “I would love it if I could play a lot here [at Watford], but if I need to play elsewhere to get the games that I need to improve then I’ll do that.”

U23 Reaction: “Hungbo Looks Very Exciting”

By Kevin Affleck

Hayden Mullins believes we saw a glimpse of what new recruit Joseph Hungbo is capable of after watching the free-running winger score twice in the 2-2 draw with St Albans City last night.

The 19-year-old signed from Crystal Palace this summer after ten years at Selhurst Park and he took just three minutes to make his mark in a Watford shirt, cutting in on his left foot and smashing one in the bottom left-hand corner after just three minutes. To show it was no fluke, he did the same just before half-time.

“He’s been with us a while now,” said Mullins. “He was training with us for four or five months without kind of having a contract, so he has earned his chance and is very exciting. He can cut in on his left foot, he can go past players and he worked hard tonight. We know quite a bit a bit about him already and he looks very exciting.”

Goals from Sam Merson – Paul Merson’s son – and Joe Iaciofano meant the Hornets were pegged back each time Hungbo put them in front, but this was a good work-out for a new-look side featuring new recruits Bayli Spencer-Adams, Jamal Balogun, Sam Dalby, Cameron Green and Henry Wise.

“It was a big improvement from Saturday [when we lost 4-0 to Wealdstone],” said Mullins. “On Saturday we had quite a few trialists in the group and now we’ve settled down and here we had most of the signed lads playing. It was an improved performance and just pleasing to see a lot of the bits and pieces we are working on. It’s good to see and it’s showing on the pitch.”
