News: Sánchez Flores’ Staff Confirmed

The coaching team that will support the Hornets’ new Head Coach Quique Sánchez Flores has been confirmed.

Antonio Diaz Carlavilla, Juan Carlos Oliva Fornos and Dean Austin will each hold the position of Assistant Coach under the Spaniard, while Emilio López has joined as Goalkeeper Coach.

Oscar García has been appointed Head of Sports Science, and Cote Gallardo is Video Analyst.

ANTONIO DIAZ CARLAVILLA

One of three who worked at Watford under Sánchez Flores in 2015/16, Assistant Coach Diaz Carlavilla also has coaching experience with Real Madrid (youth), Getafe, Espanyol, Al Ahli, Al Ain and Shanghai Shenhua.

JUAN CARLOS OLIVA FORNOS

Oliva Fornos boasts vast managerial experience in the Spanish second and third divisions and also had a spell in charge of La Liga outfit Alavés. He has previously coached alongside Sánchez Flores at Al Ahli, Al Ain and Espanyol and has also worked in Greece and Cyprus.

DEAN AUSTIN

Now in his third spell coaching the Hornets, having previously worked under Brendan Rodgers, Slaviša Jokanović and Sánchez Flores, ex-Crystal Palace and Tottenham defender Austin started his playing days in Watford’s youth team and was most recently manager at Northampton Town.

EMILIO LÓPEZ

As a player, López kept goal for the likes of Leganés, Osasuna and Hércules, and has since worked as Goalkeeper Coach at Celta Vigo, Getafe, JEF United Chiba and Shanghai Shenhua.

OSCAR GARCÍA

Head of Sports Science García has worked in the Premier League before with Swansea City, where he served under manager Michael Laudrup, and also counts Numancia, Getafe, Spartak Moscow, Monaco, Espanyol and Shanghai Shenhua among his former clubs.

COTE GALLARDO

Back as Video Analyst having held the role at Vicarage Road in 2015/16, Gallardo is a trusted member of Sánchez Flores’ staff having also followed him to Al Ahli, Al Ain, Getafe, Espanyol and Shanghai Shenhua.

Internationals: Lo-Everton Called Up For Scotland

Sonny Blu Lo-Everton has been called up to the Scotland Under-18 squad for an international tournament in Istanbul later this month.

The midfielder, widely praised by his teammates and coaches for his technical ability and quick feet, has appeared five times for his country’s Under-17 side.

Scotland are in a group with Angola, Cameroon and Paraguay for the Under-18 tournament, which will take place from September 20-27.

Lo-Everton scored a stunning winner in an FA Youth Cup victory for Watford last December.
