Mazzarri On Players' Improvement

As well as the usual match preview and injury update, Walter Mazzarri reserved time during his pre-match press call to highlight two Watford players who he says have improved dramatically since his arrival over the summer.

Nordin Amrabat and Sebastian Prödl were both used intermittently under Quique Sanchez Flores, but have worked their way not only into contention this campaign, but become key men in Mazzarri's setup.

“When I arrived, Amrabat was one of those who was not considered previously,” he said, prompted by a question on Amrabat's good form.

“This can only prove the work that we have done up until today, which has helped him improve not only mentally but also as a player.”

“It's not only about him,” he continued.

“I can make another example - it's the same with Sebastian Prödl.

“He has improved massively as a player this season. This gives us a lot of satisfaction, because it proves that my work, together with my staff, has been very positive.”

Folivi Signs New Contract

Watford FC are delighted to announce that promising young striker Michael Folivi has signed a new deal which will keep him with the Hornets until 2020.

The gifted 18-year-old penned a three-and-a-half-year contract this afternoon at the club’s London Colney training ground.

Folivi, who first joined Watford’s Academy in 2008, was a prolific goalscorer throughout his two years in the club’s Under-18 side, and has scored four times for the Under-23s so far this season.

His impressive form was rewarded with a call-up to Walter Mazzarri’s matchday squad for the first-team trip to Liverpool earlier this month.
