Mazzarri Calls For Consistency

Walter Mazzarri is keen to add more consistency to a Watford side that still sits pretty in eighth despite last weekend’s defeat to Stoke.

The Hornets have on numerous occasions this season bounced straight back from defeats with positive results and performances, and while Mazzarri hopes to continue that trend at West Brom this Saturday, he’s also keen to avoid the highs and lows that accompany inconsistent form.

“Until now it has been like this [bouncing back], and I really hope it happens again now,” he said, speaking at his weekly press conference this afternoon.

“But this also means that we still need to grow, especially to avoid these ups and downs that the team has had throughout the season.

“We want to continue having the positive results without having to go through an up and a down.”

The Baggies are one place and one point below Watford in the Premier League, and Mazzarri knows the size of the task awaiting any team that visits the Hawthorns.

“West Bromwich is a club that is doing very well and the results speak for themselves,” he said.

“Because of the way that they play it’s very difficult for every team that plays against them to perform well.

“Tony Pulis is a manager that gives a lot to their team, and I respect him very much.”

Folivi Signs New Contract

Watford FC are delighted to announce that promising young striker Michael Folivi has signed a new deal which will keep him with the Hornets until 2020.

The gifted 18-year-old penned a three-and-a-half-year contract this afternoon at the club’s London Colney training ground.

Folivi, who first joined Watford’s Academy in 2008, was a prolific goalscorer throughout his two years in the club’s Under-18 side, and has scored four times for the Under-23s so far this season.

His impressive form was rewarded with a call-up to Walter Mazzarri’s matchday squad for the first-team trip to Liverpool earlier this month.
