Defender previews Tuesday night's trip to Manchester City

Janmaat | “There's Always A Way”

The Golden Boys have had a somewhat up and down season so far. Marco Silva’s side started the season in blistering form, defying all the odds and shooting up the table with some impressive performances, particularly on the road.

However recently those performances have been hard to come by with the Hornets winning just once in their last eight games, including Saturday’s disappointing defeat against Swansea City.

Watford begin 2018 with their toughest match of the season so far, a trip to top of the table Manchester City.

The blue half of Manchester have been utterly dominant in the league so far this season, drawing just twice and winning the rest of their matches. Dutch defender Daryl Janmaat was full of praise for his opponents.

“I think they have the best players in the league, almost in every position. They have a really good manager, they are unbelievable at the moment.

“They’re the best team in the league at the moment and they will be the champions,” Janmaat admitted.

When questioned on whether he thinks the champions elect can go the rest of the season unbeaten the full back was very quick to respond.

“Hopefully not, hopefully we can get something there,” he said smiling.

“There’s always a way to find a result, maybe they get a bad day. I think they played on the 31st as well so we have to go there to try to get a result because otherwise you better stay at home if you don’t go there for something. It’s going to be hard of course, that’s clear.”
