Injury Update: Deulofeu & Pereyra On The Way Back
By Kevin Affleck
Javi Gracia is confident Gerard Deulofeu and Roberto Pereyra will be in the right condition to play some part against Brighton on Saturday.
Deulofeu has not featured since the first half of the game against Bayer Leverkusen in Austria, missing out entirely against Queens Park Rangers and Real Sociedad because the medical staff didn't want to take any chances with a muscular problem.
But the Head Coach expects the Spaniard to return to full training this week and then work towards being available for selection against the Seagulls.
“We have some players out with little problems but I think all of them will be ready for the next game,” said Gracia. “Gerard is maybe training with the team on Tuesday. I think he will be ready.”
Pereyra is a different case altogether as he only reported back for training last weekend after his season was extended because of the Copa América. He has been slowly integrated into training this week and his load will be carefully managed ahead of another demanding season.
“Pereyra finished later than the rest of the team,” said the Head Coach. “After three weeks of rest he started to train. Now he is training in a hard moment. He is training some days with the team, others alone. He will be ready for the game [against Brighton], not at his best level, but he will be ready to compete.”
