The Hornets were made to fight hard for a point at The Vic this afternoon, navigating 66 minutes with 10 men after Miguel Britos' first-half red card to secure a 0-0 draw with Brighton.
The Uruguayan's lunging tackle on Anthony Knockaert was mistimed and misjudged, giving referee Graham Scott little choice but to order him from the field.
The visitors did everything but score as they took advantage of their extra man, returning villain Knockaert thwarted by the post and Heurelho Gomes' fingertips, while Tomer Hemed also struck the woodwork and hooked a shot just wide.
Watford's ventures forward were sparse, but they did have half-chances on the visiting goal.
Richarlison played in Andre Gray after half-time, who powered wide from a tight angle. Nathaniel Chalobah twice went close, seeing a 30-yard effort skip wide after a header from a corner was cleared off the line.
Marco Silva will reflect on five deserved points from three league games going into the international break. The Golden Boys return to action in two weeks' time at St Mary's against Southampton.
