Gomes | "A Better Performance"

While readily acknowledging that it felt like two points dropped, Heurelho Gomes believes yesterday's draw against Bournemouth did show areas of improvement for Walter Mazzarri's side.

The Brazillan goalkeeper readily acknowledged the team performance probably wasn't one for the football purists, but it was the character, fight and spirit which left Gomes feeling positive following a fourth successive Premier League draw against the Cherries.

The Hornets did twice take the lead courtesy of strikes from Christian Kabasele and skipper Troy Deeney, but it wasn't quite enough to return from the south coast with all three points.

"I believe it was a better performance, not in terms of football but in terms of character, in terms of a unit and how we fight for each other," he told watfordfc.com

"We gave everything and maybe it wasn’t our best performance but we were up for it, and like you said, another draw. It’s a tough place to come but we worked so hard to get the point."
