FPL Review | Gameweeks 13 & 14

It's been a mixed bag for the Golden Boys over the last couple of Fantasy Premier League gameweeks, and too for FPL managers after two generally low scoring rounds.

Marvin Zeegelaar (14 points) was the Hornets' best performer after his barn-storming showing down the left against Newcastle on Saturday, despite Man United's four goal haul earning he and the rest of the back-line a blank on Tuesday night.

Abdoulaye Doucouré (10) kept his managers happy with a goal and a cleen sheet over 180 minutes, while Will Hughes (9) limped out of the week's action with a goal and a frustratingly timed injury for the man bang in-form.

With five goals now this season, Doucouré (£5.4) is an interesting Watford alternative if your midfield funds can't quite stretch far enough to bring in Richarlison (£6.6), while it's also worth keeping tabs on bonus point magnet Kiko Femenía (£4.6) going into a reasonable run of Hornets fixtures.

Elsewhere, Mo Salah (20) justified his 50% ownership with three goals and two bonus points, and Mezut Özil (17) continued his revival over recent weeks, bagging a goal, two assists and maximum bonus points in Arsenal's thrashing of Huddersfield at the Emirates Stadium.

Wayne Rooney (15) put himself forward as a front-line differential with a hat-trick in Everton's 4-0 win over West Ham at Goodison Park, and with the motivating drawl of Big Sam Allardyce in the Toffees' dressing room going forward, now could be the time to draft the former England man in.

Former Golden Boy Ashley Young (21) rolled back the years with a couple of stellar strikes against Watford and a weekend clean sheet against Brighton. Ten consecutive starts at left back in a defensively strong side and just 2.2% ownership isn't too shabby.

Glyn Francis and Michael Corston share the lead at the top of the Watford global fan league on a whopping 892 points, with just four points separating the pair from Josh Pymm in third place. Congratulations if you made the top 10 this week!

Tip of the week

Be wary of rotation going into a seven-game December fixture list. Spurs' full-backs and the Arsenal and Man City forward lines have all been subject to change already this season and the trend is likely to continue in a key Premier League month. Mo Salah saved the blushes of his bosses by managing two goals in just 23 minutes off the bench as Jürgen Klopp rested his star man's legs, so nobody is ever truly safe.

Players to watch

Nick Pope (Burnley, £4.6) has been racking up points in Burnley's continued charge up the league and with Rafa Benitez opting to drop the 26% owned Rob Elliot against West Brom midweek, the 25-year-old could be a solid alternative.

Andreas Christensen (Chelsea, £5.4) has started the last four games for the Blues, who have kept clean sheets in all but one in that time. With an outrageously favourable fixture list over the next few months, he could be a go-to for weekly points.

Riyad Mahrez (£8.4) has finally rediscovered the form of Leicester's title-winning season with three goals and three assists in seven gameweeks, and the Foxes have promising upcoming fixtures.
