Kabasele: “We Can Beat Anybody”

Watch Christian Kabasele's exclusive post-match interview with watfordfc.com above, or read on below for a full transcript following the 2-1 win over Tottenham.

ON FOUR IN A ROW AND FLYING HIGH

“It’s a great feeling. Four victories in a row - it’s incredible for Watford.

“I think it’s obvious that nothing gets us down. Even when the other team scores we want to fight back to take the points - and that shows the character of this team. If we can stay together like this for a long time then we are going to be okay this season.”

ON THE COMEBACK AGAINST SPURS

“Troy’s goal gave us such confidence to keep going, because even at 1-0 down Tottenham didn’t have big chances to score. I should have let the ball go through to Ben [for the Tottenham goal], but I didn’t understand why he screamed, and if Ben gets that ball it’s still 0-0.

“Obviously we defended quite well - but not only the back four - the whole team did well. We need to keep this spirit, because - the manager said this as well in the pre-match talk - we can beat anybody, but we can also lose against anybody. So, we need to keep going.

“I’m very happy for [Cathcart] because since I came here he had a lot of injury problems. He helped me a lot on the pitch, because he has more experience than me, and that’s helped me a lot. I am happy for him but I have to say that on his goal he was supposed to block my man, and finally he scores a goal! But I am happy for him because he deserves it.”

ON MORE TO COME

“We wanted maybe one game more, or two games more, but it’s okay - we have a lot of confidence.

“We are going to use this week to rest well, because the four games were really demanding.

“After that I hope the players that went to their national teams will be back fit and fresh to start again, because we have Manchester United, Fulham, Tottenham again in the League Cup and Arsenal, so September will be a very tough month.”
