Cleverley | “I'm Over The Moon”

There was no hiding the delight on Tom Cleverley's face following confirmation of his move to the Hornets on a long-term contract.

The former Manchester United man has been almost ever present in central midfield for Walter Mazzarri's side since initially joining on loan from Everton in January, and readily admitted he always had an eye on a permanent transfer to The Vic.

“I’m delighted,” he told watfordfc.com after putting pen to paper on a five-year-deal.

“I think I made it clear I had feelings for the club when I came down here on loan and it was always the view to sign a permanent deal, so I’m over the moon.

“I felt part of the club from day one of the loan but now I really feel this is home and hopefully it is for a very long time.”

Official | Cleverley Contract Confirmed

Watford FC is delighted to confirm it has exercised an option within the loan agreement with Everton FC to convert Tom Cleverley’s stay into a permanent contract – as at July 1, 2017.

The Hornets are delighted to have concluded this agreement, which sees the England midfielder pen a five-year-deal at Vicarage Road, moving from Goodison Park for an undisclosed fee.

Cleverley, a former Player of the Season winner in a previous loan spell at Watford, has made eight appearances this season to add to his tally of 11 goals in over 30 games during the 2009/10 campaign.

Hornets’ CEO Scott Duxbury said of the deal: “We’re very pleased to secure Tom’s signature. I believe it’s a sign of our ambition to recruit the highest calibre of player for Watford.

“Tom’s affinity with the club and supporters has been very clear from the moment he returned, and we now look forward to seeing him in a Watford shirt for many years to come.”
